I have waited 3 months to write this review so that it wouldn't be written out of emotion. My dog died the day following surgery, not even 24 hours after a veterinarian here performed surgery on my dog.
My problems with this is how it all went down.
First of all, I took my dog into them for a different matter. They ran some tests and found something that could require surgery. I was presented with a decision for surgery that they wanted to do the next day. I made the decision to have this surgery performed by a vet at this hospital instead of at a better hospital that would be more equipped for something going wrong during surgery. The surgery was performed. The very same day that this major surgery took place they called me to pick up my dog at the end of their business day. I received my dog on a stretcher right after they gave him more medication. He was conscience but wobbly and weak from the meds. I was verbally given some instructions on what to do and not to do with my dog. Before the surgery decision was made, I told them that I had to travel the next day. They said my dog would be okay to go on this trip. I took him home and my dog struggled to get out of my car and get in the house.
The next morning my dog seemed okay. So we left to go to where I was going. About 1 hour later my dog died while driving on the highway. At an emergency animal hospital, the veterinarian there showed me a syringe full of blood. She said she thinks that one of the sutures slipped and my dog bled to death. I declined the necropsy as my dog was dead and I didn't want to extend my grief anymore than it was already.
I should have been made aware by the veterinarian, that performed surgery, what my dog's life span is. I was never told this. The vet knew my dog's age and is well aware of this breeds possible life-span.
They should not have given me my dog back the same day that they performed major surgery. If they do not have overnight care then they SHOULDN'T perform any major surgeries.
The post-surgery care instructions were given verbally. Do they really expect a person to remember all the fine details for care?
They need to provide some literature for care. Give a pamphlet or written document with instructions.
Is my result common? I would think it is not. But my dog died and this possibly could have been prevented.
I am deeply disappointed by the rushed decision, lack of information from the vet on how to make the decision, the lack of post care instructions, them giving me my dog back just hours after major surgery and them telling me that is okay to take my dog with me when I travel. Be better. Animals are our loved ones.

I went to Sierra Vet clinic last week on an emergency appointment while camping in Tahoe. From Theresa who took my first phone call to Lexi that listened carefully, asked questions and wrote every word down to Dr Monroe and all the other staff that cared for Boo, I have never met such a kind and compassionate team. I have truly thought about driving to tahoe when I get a new fur baby for them to care for them. Thank you with all my heart.

I took my golden retriever to Sierra Vet for her annual exam. I arrived for my appointment, greeted by people who obviously love animals. We were taken into an exam room immediately, Dr. Monroe entered shortly after our arrival. He was fantastic in the way he examined my dog. He answered all my questions and offered extensive information on the care of my dog and what to watch for as my dog grew up. My entire experience was not only professional but very friendly and courteous.
I will definitely return.

Was visiting out of town and our dog had an emergency. They were very accommodating the front desk Blake and Jordan were wonderful on the phone. One of the vet nurses Alicia went above and beyond and both veterinarians we saw on two different visits were phenomenal and very thorough. Definitely recommend just be patient as they can be very very busy.

My husband and I moved to Tahoe in the Fall of 1997, we had two dogs at that time and needed to find a veterinary as soon as we could. A friend recommended the Sierra Veterinary Hospital, and I thank her all the time for the wonderful advise.
The staff is amazing, they are all so compassionate and caring. I feel like my dogs become their dogs when they we are their. It is such a wonderful feeling to have a place that you feel so comfortable taking your pets.

Dr. Monroe and Dr. Lam, are top notch. They have been taking care of my boxer for about 11 years. They genuinely care and go over and above to make sure my dog is always taken care of. We have had many surgeries at Sierra Vet and every time they make me feel like we are there only patient the professionalism and care is one of a kind and I recommend them to all my friends and family.
