Oh! What a wonderful breath of fresh air. Compassionate and helpful. It is always stressful when a pet is sick but it really helps when your pets doctors is knowledgeable and informed. We were blessed to have found this vet. I highly recommend this vet.

I strongly encourage anyone currently using or considering Squaw Peak Animal Hospital as their Vet to go elsewhere for the following reasons:

1) Both our cats had clicking sounds when they walk (til this day) as soon as they had microchips improperly placed inside them. First time ever hearing those sounds from either of them. Our new vet confirmed it was a misplacement of the chip when Squaw Peak blamed it on joint issues...as if that happened overnight.
2) After 5 years, never being able to establish a primary Veterinarian because nobody works there on a regular Mon-Fri schedule. Some are there maybe 1-2x a week. You get whosever available.
3) Terrible communication: felt as if the Vets were almost guessing what issues our cats could have, leaving it vague on what to do for next steps. Probably could've just googled instead. We also called and emailed 5 different times for an alternative prescription to calm our cats down for a long distance move and they NEVER got back to us. This was after an in office visit stressing our concerns and very tight schedule with limited time. I voiced my frustration to the front desk and with no apologies or concerns, she said to email instead of call in the future. This also speaking to the lack of any empathy/concern below.
4) They take your pets to a back room to simply be examined instead of doing it in front of you. It used to be with you there but changed that after our first few visits along with the overall decline of their practice.
5) Zero empathy or compassion for their patients and owners. Most the visits seemed like the Vet had 5 minutes they could spend with you max, feeling rushed and incredibly impersonal. Never having one established primary Vet didnt help. One cat had to have multiple teeth pulled in an emergency situation (extremely stressful for him, me and my wife) and nobody from the office (Vet, Assistant, Front Office staff) did not once follow up to do a courtesy check in to see how he was. In comparison, our new Vet mailed us a personalized thank you card just for our first wellness visit!

We truly regret staying with them for so long but hoped they'd improve over time due to the convenience of their location and pet history keeping us from changing. It was both amazing and disturbing how much our new vet (out of state) opened our eyes on how bad the majority of our experiences at Squaw Peak were and continued to worsen over time. We urge anyone to to avoid what happened to us and look to other nearby Vets.

Disappointing Experience at Squaw Peak Animal Hospital

As a long-time client of Squaw Peak Animal Hospital, it's with regret that I write this review. Over the past three years, my experiences have gradually shifted from satisfactory to disappointing.

Firstly, the demeanor at the front desk has consistently been standoffish. A welcoming and helpful attitude is fundamental in service-oriented businesses, and unfortunately, this has been lacking. This is not just about a smiling face but about feeling valued as a client.

Secondly, the inability to provide change for cash payments reflects poorly on business preparedness. Being told "we never have change" and offered a credit instead is not a solution that respects customer preferences. It's surprising for an established business to overlook such basic transactional needs.

Moreover, the lack of communication with the medical staff who directly interact with our pets is concerning. When I sought to ask questions about my dog's care post-vaccination, I was met with "Sorry, I'm a tech" and advised to make another appointment for answers. This isn't just inconvenient; it raises questions about transparency and client care.

As someone who has invested a considerable amount in my pets' health at your facility, the decision to switch to another vet wasn't made lightly. A veterinary practice is not just about the medical care provided; it's also about the overall experience and feeling of trust and respect.

I hope this feedback is taken constructively. The quality of care and customer service are pivotal in retaining and valuing clients. Sadly, in this case, it seems there's a disconnect between the services promised and delivered.

We take our American Bullies here for their OFA & PennHIP testing. I wouldn’t recommend any other clinic. We previously want to Pima North Animal Hospital and they injured my dog’s hips doing PennHIP. I took my other girl here to Squaw Peak and they did an amazing job. We were in and out in 30-40 mins (with sedation, which is why it took longer) for TWO dogs getting OFAs done. Their staff have always been very professional and accommodating.

They are also not against bull breed dogs, although some of their customers are. Someone was complaining that our girl was in the same lobby as their dog, and instead of making us go in and grab her they personally brought her out to our car when they were done with her appointment.

Their OFAs and PennHIP are very “budget friendly” i’ve seen many places charge way more for the same thing.

We have been taking our dog here for about 10 years. They always took such great care of him. Dr. Agnew was terrific. Unfortunately when covid hit she left. Front desk all left too. Our dog developed allergies and we went and saw a new doctor but was really disappointed. Then we came in and our dog saw Dr. Mike Ferrera. He has been the best! Recently our dog had pneumonia and Dr. Mike has been super attentive to his treatment. The staff is always helpful. I know people that have not been happy in the last few years but that has not been our experience.
