I've never had a negative experience with this hospital - I gave birth there before it became St. Elizabeth and loved my time there.
My latest experience was different. I will never visit there nor will I take my loved ones here under any circumstances!!! There was a staff member there who was gossiping and spreading false rumors to another patient about me as I was there visiting. I barely even know her outside of her "job." So much for confidentiality! I thought the "patient advocate" would be a little more professional than that.
Do better, St. E.

Very professional!!! NOT!!!!

I was transported by EMS to the ER for a GI bleed. The nurses were very attentive because they knew I was on a blood thinner but that's where it ends. My daughter is my very first contact on who to call they did not pick up the phone and call my daughter thank God she came from work to see me. And I told them I also had a severe UTI coming on. So they got me up to a room and I was there from Monday till Thursday. Most of the staff were nice and cordial but there's one nurse on staff that just thought she had to run the whole show and make it about her and when I was upset after I came back from a partial procedure and I was upset she was like being very rude to me. Then Thursday rolls around and they're like trying to get me up at the crack of dawn to take my meds to eat some breakfast to get cleaned up and I'm like what's going on? All they would tell me was that I had to be ready to go and out the door by noon I told them I did not have a ride and they said well your daughter works just down the road and I'm like she cannot take me home I said can I please have one of the EMS take me home because they've done that before well they totally ignored me and said that I had to take catch a ride and that I had to be out of my room by 12:00 because catch a ride was going to be there at 12:15 and I also had to pay for it and I told them I said I didn't come in here with any ID any money and you're telling me I have to pay for this ride? So they put me on the elevator with one of the aides she would not even let me roll my wheelchair she was pushing me so fast she took me to the pharmacy to get my meds and then ran me down that long hallway on the first floor as fast as she can because she wouldn't even let me roll and they're shoving me in a catch a ride when I wasn't ready to go home and finally the nurse it was on duty finally sticks her head in the window and says I hope you're doing okay and everything works out and she was the one that was the drill sergeant this hospital I have always stuck up for and gave good reviews but not this time I won't recommend this hospital I won't recommend Dr Cowan who was on night shift doctor because he wouldn't even listen to me about my antibiotics and they actually gave me an antibiotic that put me into an itching fit and they said there was nothing wrong which I was scratching myself so hard blood was coming to the top so my arms so don't take your family there I don't recommend it anymore. One good thing was I had a very good doctor the first night I was there her name was Dr Stone so that's another good thing that's it!! Listen to your patients !!!because I had been going to this hospital for over 13 years

My father had a hip replacement Nov. 2024. Dr. Wissel was amazing and gave my dad and our whole family personal care. All the doctors, nurses, an aids were wonderful, positive, and kind. Our family couldn’t have asked for a better experience and we’re grateful to everyone at this hospital.

If I could give these guys a 0, I would. My dad came in tonight because he was stuttering due to a brain aneurysm he has so he went to the ER for some answers as to why it happens and they just say “yea yea yea yea” like they don’t believe him when it’s in his charts and that he has MS and WWP. It’s all in his charts but they don’t want to believe him. Like what is wrong with doctors these days especially St. Elizabeth Dearborn. Why can’t they just help the patient and figure it out rather than just not care. They’re absolutely useless. I’m a CNA and would never treat patients or clients like that. I would always believe what pain or whatever they’re going through. You don’t just not care. St. Elizabeth Dearborn, y'all don’t really care about patients, START CARING.

Dr. Brian Wissel did my father's hip replacement and he literally saved his life. 2 months later he's dancing with my sisters. I can't thank him and the staff enough. We moved him from good sam to dearborn county and it was a game changer. Again, 10 stars isn't enough. To the surgeon and the staff. Thank you a million times! 2 months later he's dancing. We thought he was dying at Good Sam.

The hospital has improved dramatically ever since St. Elizabeth took the reins. I've been here several times since then (assisting a family member), and the care and consideration they've received has been outstanding. To be perfectly blunt, I would have thought twice about coming here before St. Elizabeth bought it, but the "new" Dearborn County hospital is not the same as the old. Thumbs up. Oh, and try the York Street Market wraps in the cafeteria, because they're worth the visit to the hospital.

I traveled a few miles extra to get my mammogram and ultrasound done here and was so glad I did. The people were super friendly and answered all my questions. I felt valued. It is a small unit with tight parking, but they are moving in a few months to a new facility. The lights on the 3d mammogram machine were the highlight of my day as well as the fast and happy diagnosis I got before leaving.

May 09, 2024, I drove myself to ER with shortness of breath, and chest pressure around 2:45AM, I parked illegally and as I walked in the security guard asked if I was ok. I told him no, I thought I was having a heart attack but I was parked illegally. He told me not to worry about that. A nurse was bringing a wheelchair out and noticed me. She and another nurse got me wheeled back to a room and immediately I was surrounded w 3 awesome nurses. A bag of Heparin was started, and EKG and the Dr came in. They asked lots of questions. Gave me an aspirin and labs taken. My enzymes were up. Took them hours later they were still rising. The Cardiologist came in and was very caring and blunt, explaining that I needed to be transported to Edgewood for an Angiogram and stents - she called their Cath Lab and I was transported over and in less than an hour had the Angiogram. Her name is Dr. P. or that is what I call her b/c I could not pronounce her name. She told me if was her family member what she was having me do is what she would tell them. When a Dr says that, you know they care and are serious. Dr. Stephen Schuckman did the Angiogram and he did an excellent job. He explained everything before I went in and asked me several times if I had any questions and when I said no, he asked if I was sure. Every single person I encountered was a Blessing. I was very panicked, very scared. My main nurse Hanna at Edgewood was an Angel. She even asked if I needed a hug and I said yes. As she hugged me, I started crying and she held on. The night nurse, she's a different story. Don't even know her name, but she was very crass and bordered on cruel. But, I am not going to let her behavior take away a star, because she was only one. Everyone else was so attentive and caring. For people who don't know this, I thought it was my weight that caused the heartattack. No, 3 different Dr's not in the same room or even the same day explained, genetics and stress can cause our bodies to do crazy things. I had noticed for a long time, I was short of breath and pressure feeling in my chest. I dismissed it as being overweight. No, it was a heart attack waiting to happen. I am working on weight loss, however. Thanking God for putting such caring people in my path that night.
