This vet group is not reliable, since the pandemic the service has declined tremendously; I have been a customer for 7+ years, spent thousands of dollars on services and now they are saying they are pretty busy and wanted me to go to another vet; most of their personnel is very rude over the phone, just call and check yourself; my best piece of advice, stay away this group and find a Vet who cares. Este grupo veterinario no es confiable; desde que comenzó la pandemia el servicio ha empeorado; yo he sido cliente por más de 7 años, gastado miles de dolares en servicios y ahora me dicen que están muy ocupados y me indican que busque otro veterinario. EL personal que atiende el telefóno es muy mal educado, simplemente llamen y chequeen ustedes mismos para que se percaten. my mejor consejo esten lejos de este centro y busquen un Veterinario que si le preocupe el bienestar de su mascota.

Muy decepcionada del lugar, gaste miles de dólares en diferentes exámenes que ellos recomendaban para mi Gatito en diversas etapas y nunca dieron un resultado consistente, siempre un “No sabemos porque, no pensamos que…. Tenemos que hacer más exámenes….. solo les importa el $ y no la vida de los animalitos. Muy rudas las recepcionistas en el teléfono…. Especialmente KRISLYN o como se llame, ella no le importa más que ser ruda y contestar mal, necesitan removerla porque en verdad les hace quedar muy mal. Sonia la Enfermera es lo único rescatable de ahí, muy amable y empatica. La Dra. Collins Mickila falló en su última disposición para el tratamiento de mi gatito y jamás volvimos a saber de ella. No volvió a darnos la cara. SI puedes…. Lleva a tu pet a otro lugar. Nosotros decidimos que no regresaremos o pondremos nuestros pets en sus manos otra vez.

2 days ago my dog had obvious wounds with foreign object stuck on his left eyelid. It was past 6.30pm so I brought my dog straight to VCA. The front desk and nurse were polite and attended to my dog quickly. I described to them both what happened and they could see there was a foreign object in the corner of my dog's eye. (Picture 1)

My husband and I waited for 2hrs before we were brought to a waiting/ examination room, and continued waiting for a while before the doctor's assistant arrived. She sounded as if she has not been briefed by the nurse who brought my dog in, and asked us in detail again as if she has not seen my dog's wound. She asked questions like "you think it's a thorn?" Apparently during this time the doctor was examining my dog and we thought that the assistant was just helping out with the paperwork. She then presented us with 2 treatment options, one that costs around $350 and the other $750. The former treatment includes examination, treatment of the laceration and antibiotics. The latter treatment included sedation, additional tests to see if there was any scratch to the cornea, and different antibiotics for the scratch if any. My husband and I discussed on the cost and effect while she was present, and we even asked/ said that the thorn looks like it only hurt the surface, we did not have pet insurance and would like to go for the $350 treatment. Both doctors did not share what is the severity of the laceration, nor provided their strong opinion on the treatment plan. And we assumed that the doctor had properly examined and treated our dog for the laceration and removed the unknown foreign object stuck in the eyelid. We were also given the option to have a cone. Our dog was then discharged at 10pm. It wasn't until 11.30pm when we took a close-up view of the eye and realized that the foreign object was still there, and we quickly called the clinic and even sent them pictures. The front desk put another doctor on the phone, and I asked her to "please kindly zoom into the photos" but to my surprise, she told me that all the other doctors and herself didn't see that there was anything. What looked like a foreign object to us was probably a scab from the laceration. (Picture 2) Since they insisted it was nothing and that the first vet that saw our dog during the evening had cleaned the wound and confirmed there was no foreign object anymore. I informed the doctor that I would go to our regular clinic the next day instead of bringing my dog back to VCA that night. At this point we were just pissed by the lack of service and care, irresponsibility, and rudeness, and felt that they were purely sharks, basically made us pay $300 for antibiotics and wondered if they had actually examined the dog.

And guess what? We were not hallucinating at all. At the point of check-in at our regular clinic, the nurse/ doctor's assistant at our regular clinic did a prelim check and agreed that there was something. The doctor also confirmed and informed us that our dog has a deep cut that was through and through, and needs to undergo surgery to remove the foreign objects and may need sutures. It's THE ONLY treatment option. After the procedure was completed the doctor informed us that they removed 2 thorns from the left eye, and another 2 thorns from the arm. (Picture 3 & 4)

Discharge paper from VCA said: "Tonight we recommended giving sedation to ensure that there was not any residual material in the wound as well as testing for trauma to his cornea." Despite that there was obviously at at least 1 foreign object in the eye, they did not treat it and told us MULTIPLE TIMES it was nothing.

We are lost for words and extremely upset at VCA, please avoid this clinic if you can.

I just want to express that this place did nothing for our dog. We came in because our dog was vomiting and had diarrhea. The pricing was outrageous. First of all, they tested him for things that were not a concern. Second, they did not provide to us any proof of the procedures done to our dog. They didn't even tell us what was wrong with him. They told us everything was normal and nothing was seen in the x-rays. They sent us home with prebiotic that I could of bought myself, canned food, and nothing else. Then, they put a bunch of fluids in him. The next day, our dog was pooping with blood, which he did not have. They charged us over $1500 and did nothing for my dog. This was a bad experience, and I really believe that all they want is money. Stay away from this place, I was just in a desperate moment, which they took advantage of. I called to get copy of his labs and x-rays and they did not like that very much, that they sounded rude when we asked for them. Please read the bad reviews before you make a decision to go to this place.

I’ve had multiple good experiences here! My little cat Misty is always having some issue at least once a year (you know it’s bad when they recognize her haha) and this is my go to emergency vet.
The front desk has always been very friendly, professional and helpful. The vet techs are also great. They always explain procedure plans and answer any questions I may have. And they always send her home with all the medications and any other items we need for her to recover.
As with any emergency vet visit, the wait may be long depending on your pet’s condition and cost will be higher than usual, just to keep in mind.
I’d highly recommend this location and I’m sure we’ll be back in the future. Thank you so much VCA staff, you guys are awesome and we really appreciate everything you do for our furry family members ?

This hospital is an emergency facility, and is hands down the best one I’ve been to anywhere in the country. The front staff are warm, thorough, and lightning fast. The techs are knowledgeable and have exceptional bedside manner. Dr. Boswell was my cat’s physician, and she took me step by step through everything both positive and negative that was happening with my cat who is 15. Jupiter was seen immediately and yes, the wait to do tests and X-rays took some hours. But, it’s an emergency hospital. More severe cases coincided with my cat’s care, causing my wait time to extend —just like any emergency room. I can’t imagine what it’s like to deal with animals in crisis Every. Single. Day. The people here are quite honestly remarkable. It’s clear they care and they are also super professional. My deepest gratitude to everyone. This place is golden. Golden. Thank you.

please shove your response to better understand my situation, you will not do anything to Solove my problem
Cost $1600 hundred dollars examination.
Do not bring your pet to this hospital. All they are looking for is for you to pay them money. All that was done on my pup was to check him out, an x-ray was taken and 3 cans of cheap food and cheap probiotics that you can buy at your supermarket were given to us and still my dog was pooping out Blood & diarrhea do not take your animal to this place. Dr. Christina Thompson should not be a vet. All she did was look at me and my wife up and down like we couldn't afford to be there. So they gave us 3 cans of cheap food cheap probiotic and a bill of $1600.00. Please be advised to take your pet to a real veterinarian place, not this scam of a place.

This hospital is owned by Mars Inc. (the multibillion dollar giant who owns Snickers, M&Ms, Skittles, etc.).

My cat urgently needed an E tube for feeding after her appetite was just too inconsistent to leave her to her own devices, and Dr. Alvarez here took great care of my baby! She was very knowledgeable and explained things to us about the care plan without talking down to us, and she really put us at ease during a stressful time. When we left my cat there overnight, we really felt she was in great hands, and the staff were all so patient with us. You can really tell they care about the animals here, and I would recommend it to anyone in a pet emergency.

Bonus: The bill for services was literally HALF of what we were quoted for the same services by another 24/7 emergency vet with specialties in Pasadena. So, so glad we chose to bring my cat here for her procedure even if it was a further drive.
