These professionals pulled out ALL the stops in a 5 day effort to save our dear Walnut after he decided to get in a horrific fight with his siblings. While he didn’t make it, they gave him every chance. This is as good of a critical care team as I have worked with, and I’m a physician, so I know what that means. If he was a human, his care would have been $250000 easily. Thank you all for such amazing treatment.

RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN. If you have care credit, they will max you out! I had 10k limit and they used 9,300 or so. DIABOLICAL! They were so unprofessional and very impersonal. They didn’t explain the treatment thoroughly at all and when I asked for the records and they said it would take 72 hours. I still have not received the records and it has been since January 2024. They almost killed my cat and would not listen to me when I asked them to call the previous place that SAVED his life. They weren’t treating the symptoms. They were making him worse and put a cone on him when that was unnecessary as he was lethargic.no one will greet you when you come in and a candle is lit at all times which means an animal has passed away. Also when you visit your pet, they keep you in a bland room with a mat and won’t check in on you. Forget about calls from a doctor explaining test results.I also had to tell them to clean his little cold, bleak cage they put him in and give him water and food and fresh litter. I brought in specific food for him as he has stomach problems and they never gave it to him. They gave him generic food which made his symptoms worse. These people only care about the money not your animals/family. I had to travel 18 hours to the place that saved him last and they didn’t charge me an arm, leg, kidney, etc. I could Go on and on about how cruel this establishment is but hopefully this will help save some animals/family. This place needs to go out of business.

UPDATE: they still have not reached out when they responded to this review. They do not care to address these serious issues!

Not a pleasant experience, you and your dog are just a number. Not the best bedside manor and I feel there is overall lack of knowledge. Techs took my pets blood pressure wrong and no one could tell us why there were huge discrepancies in the blood pressure readings that day. Did a full panel of blood work and said they would provide the results but yet did not give us the full report with the readings etc..will never go back.

When I had to bring my beloved cat Clyde in for afterlife services the staff here was so compassionate from the very second they answered the phone. And once I got there and saw how they'd prepared a little room for him and everything i couldn't help but get emotional. Very good people here and they no doubt love and care about animals. And to be honest it wasn't as expensive as I was expecting an ER vet to be on Thanksgiving day. I'd highly recommend them for any of your emergency pet needs and I won't hesitate to return for any of mine. Thank you all so much!

I took my German Shepherd here yesterday to have him euthanized. I spoke to someone before bringing him in and explained what was going on with him. The lady was nice and assured me that I wouldn't be turned away. My dog has severe allergies and had mutilated himself overnight. It looked like he had been in a slasher film.

He has been injuring himself over the past two years, and it is well documented with the two vets that I've taken him to. They called my current vet, and so this was confirmed. I called my current vet while at VCA, and they were astonished that the vet at VCA WOULDN"T EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT MY DOG. The lady who I spoke with referred my concerns to the doctor THREE times, and he said he wouldn't provide the service over allergies. I told the lady that he isn't just scratching his nose. If the doc would have cared and taken a look at him he would have realized this.

My vet couldn't get me in, and I didn't want to bring him home. There would be no way that I could do anything for him. He was miserable, and I don't know how we could have gotten through another night. My vet put me in touch with Dupage County animal services, and a very helpful lady there told me to wait in the VCA parking lot while she gave them a call. She was on hold for a while, so she hung up and called me back. It was around 2pm, and she said that if I could make it there soon that they would perform the procedure. She cared, where the vet at VCA did not. He would not even look at my dog.

I can say that this was the worst experience I've ever had with a business. The two women at VCA were nice and helpful, but the actual vet has to be a garbage human being. I am providing pics to show the shape my dog was in. If you care about your pets, stay away from VCA in Downers Grove.

I brought my cat here after she was throwing up and seemed lethargic. When I arrived, I was told they would see if the doctor could even fit her in based on availability. At no point did I request or expect emergency services, but I was still charged $255 for an ‘emergency exam.’

This fee didn’t include anything—no diagnostics, treatments, or fluids. The doctor simply asked if I wanted to proceed with additional services like fluids or an x-ray, which I had to decline due to finances. These services would have been an additional charge. So what was the $255 for? A brief conversation?

Their website said both ‘regular hours’ and ‘emergency/specialty hours’ were 24/7, which clarifies absolutely nothing. It gives no indication that after-hours visits automatically classify as ‘emergencies’ or come with additional fees. When I called to discuss this, the explanation felt like an excuse to justify unreasonable charges. Here’s the kicker: I went back to the website right after the call to screenshot the hours, and the listing for regular hours no longer said 24/7. They changed it! Haha! This feels incredibly deceptive and raises major red flags about their business practices.

I even asked friends and family if I was overreacting or if this situation could somehow be my fault, and they all agreed that this was outrageous. I feel like I was completely taken advantage of in a vulnerable situation.

I now understand why so many reviews warn people to avoid this hospital. I didn’t listen, but I don’t blame others for being upset about the ridiculous fees. I only came here because a good friend recommended this place, but after hearing about my experience, neither of us will ever come back. Transparency and fair pricing should be the bare minimum, but this clinic seems to prioritize profits over honest care.

I brought my cat in for urinary issues. When I arrived, the wait time was 2-3 hours but increased to 5-6 hours while I was waiting due to a critical patient. They took my cats vitals and did an ultrasound and didn’t charge me anything. I did decide to go elsewhere due to the wait time, but the tech was very empathetic and helped me talk through my options! They were great.
