This is my first ever vet experience where I was not stuck in a room for an hour to wait for a vet. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Clean facilities. Pricing is a bit over the top.

My pup had a hotspot and VCA Braelinn Village Animal Hospital was able to get us in to have it looked at despite having a very booked schedule. This was during Covid-19 and a VCA attendant came out to my car and got her and brought her back out to me. They did all the consult and checkout over the phone. Hope this cute pup will be much more comfortable very soon. Thanks VCA!

We called VCA Braelinn when our little Bichon was unresponsive after eating something and vomiting. He was really sick. Tracy got us in to see Dr. Schmidt right away. When we got there the team went into action immediately and kept us informed as they worked to stabilize him. I cannot express enough gratitude for the care and compassion they showed for us and our little fur baby. I understand that it's part of the job, but they went above and beyond. Clearly, he was more than just a sick dog to them. They are animal owners and lovers, and we are so grateful to have them take care of our little Kaspyr.

My German Shepherd injured her leg/hip chasing a deer. I called VCA and told them what happened and that I wasn't sure if my girl had a sprained her ankle, had a fracture, or a dislocated hip. I asked the lady who answered the phone if they would be able to see my dog that day and give her x-rays and do whatever was necessary to treat her appropriately. The lady's exact response was "absolutely, bring her over as soon as you can and call us when you get here and give us your parking spot number." Once I arrived after driving an hour one way (2 hours round trip) i called them and they said they would be right out. However, it took them 40 minutes to come outside to get my dog. In retrospect, that should have been a sign to go somewhere else. Once finally inside and overlooked by the vet, she informs me that they were too busy that day to do X-rays or do any further treatment for my hurt dog. Keep in mind, my dog is in serious pain at this point! Really? How is a vet ever too busy to treat a dog when one of her staff told me to drive all the way there and they would do whatever was necessary to render care? If I were a vet, I'd stay late if I had to. the animals would come first or at least I'd train my front office staff to not make fake promises to clients. The vet said they were going to try to refer me to one of the Blue Pearl vet hospitals or the Auburn veterinarian college. However she later said they couldn't get through on the phone to Auburn, so I could risk it if I wanted to to drive there but no guarantees. Auburn would have been another 1.5 hour drive, or 3 hours round trip. The vet said one of the Blue Pearl facilities was at capacity already and couldn't see my dog she said the other Blue Pearl was open but they may not have the specialist needed to treat my dog if she had a fracture. U asked the VCA vet If she could at least X-ray my dog so we'd know what treatment would be needed, and she said no At the end of the day VCA charged me upwards of $400 for the shot for pain management and a couple bottles of additional painkillers for us to go home with. I called VCA first thing Monday morning and asked for a referral to Blue Pearl which I personally was able to get through to. The lady at VCAs front desk told me that I would have to wait 24 hours to get a referral because the vet that saw my dog on Saturday was off that day, even though there were other vets working that morning at VCA. Naturally I lashed out and I told her I thought that was BS and they were unnecessarily causing my dog to continue to suffer. Only after I called them out, did the vet technician, who assisted on Saturday send over the referral to the hospital. BTW, the vet tech, Taylor was fantastic. More than I can say for receptionist or vet. Ultimately my dog had successful surgery elsewhere. But I don't think VCA aided us in any meaningful way, other than expensive pain killers.. VCA shouldn't tell people they can do X-rays and render care when they can't. I made a 2-hour road trip only to be charged almost $400 for a few days of pain management. Then I had to deal with a bunch of BS just to get a referral to see another veterinarian who could actually treat my dog. So I hope your experience is better but my personal experience with VCA left a lot to be desired!
