We just moved to the area and was happy to choose VCA Buffalo Ridge. They were and are able to accommodate me on Saturdays which is so helpful with my job.

My first time there today everyone was so nice and helpful. Got myself and Aldo into a room immediately being that he is very energetic towards other animals. Always wants to play.

The staff was phenomenal with learning Aldo’s history quickly and making him feel comfortable. Very happy to have found this place. Thank you!

Many of us come down here looking for a new vet and sometimes that first vet experience is just to put our fur baby down. That was me yesterday. In a crisis, wanting urgency, and heartbroken. I called several vets only to be told they are booked. Not VCA Buffalo Ridge. I was in their office 30 minutes later. I expected to go sit in a bright lit room and have a clinical goodbye. Not my first rodeo here. Not at VCA. I walked in with my little guy and my eyes full of tears. They took me right back to a room. But this room was dimly lit with a couch and pillows and was made special just for this occasion that we all dread. They were the kindest and most compassionate people I could have ever wished for. They did things that I don’t think anyone else would have done. When my dog started getting upset when the vet got too close to his momma, I feared I wouldn’t be able to hold him during the injection. The vet quietly walked out of the room. When he came back he had IV tubing. He hooked it up to his IV and gave the injections from afar as to keep my little guy peaceful in my arms. They gave me all the time I needed. They whispered. They showed that they truly cared and understood. When I was getting ready to leave, I asked for scissors to collect some hair. I didn’t just get the scissors. I got a human who came in with a tiny little clear jar and he delicately took pieces of hair in all the places I gave belly rubs and head massages. He took great care in making it special. He made me a memorial that I will cherish forever.

Thank you VCA Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital for making one of the hardest moments of my life a peaceful passing over the rainbow bridge with the most love and care. ❤️

Cooper was treated wonderfully by the vet tech and his doctor. And they both took the time to answer our questions. Office staff was kind and helpful. Heartily recommend this animal hospital.

I wish I could give them 10 stars. I was only a customer of theirs once and that was to have my dog euthanized. They took one of the most painful days for me and showed kindness, empathy, and an understanding of the grieving process for a pet parent. They made that sorrowful day as smooth and respectful as possible. When I returned a week later to pick up what they referred to as my ‘special package’, which I thought was a very thoughtful way to phrase it. When the woman behind the counter brought the beautiful presentation of the container, info and paw print out to me…she did not hand it to me over the counter. She walked around the counter and handed it to me face-to-face. It was just that next level of consideration. If I were to be a pet owner again, they would be the top of my list for veterinary care.

When our 15 pound Boston Terrier, Prissy, was savagely attacked in our yard by two large, stray dogs wandering through our neighborhood, we thought she would surely die. We took her to Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital thinking we needed to end her pain. But, Dr. Sexton was able to work miracles. The staff was both competent and caring to Prissy and to us. A week later she was able to come home. She is not as good as new; the attack was savage, but she is happy, affectionate, and able to perch on top of the sofa where she is as tall as the humans who serve her (no one's head can be higher than the Queen's!) We are so very, very grateful to Dr. Sexton and the staff of Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital.

I have been taking Ernie to Buffalo Ridge Animal Hosp since Ernie was found as a stray about 4 years ago. He has received excellent care I can't say that Ernie is excited to return but he tolerates it. Everyone is always so nice and so helpful. We saw Dr Madera this week and she patiently explained everything. Ernie ( and us too) loved the new place for the cats (and dogs?) to hide out with the calming pheromones. It made things a lot easier for us with him so calm and resting in the "hidey hole".

The management team at this company exhibits highly problematic behavior. Their primary focus appears to be financial gain rather than providing quality care for your beloved pets. The vet techs and receptionists consistently demonstrate a lack of competence and fail to take responsibility for their mistakes. For instance, one vet tech charged me for a nail trim but only managed to trim a few nails, admitting their lack of proficiency with the tools provided. Despite this, they still charged me the full amount without rectifying the situation. When I brought up this issue, the supervisor Corey responded defensively, accusing me of making baseless accusations. Instead of actively resolving customer concerns, they adopt a defensive stance, which is highly frustrating.

Although they label themselves as a hospital, they fail to accommodate emergencies, even when customers are enrolled in a care club that only covers appointment fees and specific shots. The most significant incident occurred when I called seeking advice for my puppy who had ingested something he shouldn't have. The manager, Jucinda, dismissed my concerns, suggesting I pay a hefty sum at an urgent care facility. It turned out that the company had actually sold me a Home Again service, which included access to a hotline staffed by 24/7 veterinarians. Interestingly, I learned about this hotline from a compassionate individual at poison control, not from the company I purchased it from, Blue Ridge Veterinarian Hospital. When I expressed my disappointment to the lead manager about Jucinda's lack of awareness regarding this service, she responded defensively, rationalizing their ignorance rather than offering an apology. It is disheartening that the management team lacks empathy for their customers, especially considering that the actual veterinarians do not share this sentiment. I have never experienced such disrespect and emotional distress from individuals whom I am paying a significant amount of money to. If you are willing to squander your funds, then perhaps you should consider engaging with these individuals.
