My dog presented with Sharpei fever and it was a Sunday . My vet recommends the Vca on the weekends . When you dog is having an emergency you shouldn’t it take it for granted that you can see a vet. I see all the reviews about expense and such but wow , they accept your pet 24/7 that is very reassuring ! Without them I’d be left with minimal / NO options and they were good ! Yea they took a long time , yea they were expensive , but my dog was taken in and treated well and that was great ! Thank you to the entire clinic and my Brillant doctor Steele . Added note , they applied a senior discount after asking my age ( they first asked if I was in the military ) so kudos to them for trying to cut a break !

Overall pretty good experience here. I took my dog here for cancer treatment and the doctor was very honest in her diagnosis. It wasn't news I wanted to hear, but it was what I needed to hear.

He is on his first round of chemo now and just be warned, it's NOT cheap. I would suggest only getting tests done that are absolutely necessary because the cost adds up fast.

Overall, I feel like my dogs and y needs were taken care of here and we'll be back!

The absolute worst place you can bring your pet! Let me tell you what to expect if you bring your pet in for an emergency. I hope you’re reading this b4 and not after taking your pet in because I didn’t read the other reviews until afterwards.
First, they will get your pet in and have you wait in a back exam room. For my case, my cat had a severe coughing and breathing attack and shaking his head which has never happened so I rushed him in. They will of course run some blood tests and an XRay and tell you to go home and they will call you with an update later.
Next, the “vet” or salesman will call you at home and tell you that your pet is a “special case” and it’s unknown from the X-rays what could be causing the issue. She will then suggest you keep your pet overnight for “observation & IV treatment.” For IV treatment, pets are required to stay overnight $$. His kidney levels were slightly elevated and did not warrant an overnight stay.
Lastly, the vet will suggest seeing their Specialist who will be there the next day but if you don’t let your pet stay overnight they won’t be able to book an appointment with them for another 2-4 weeks. .…excuse me, but if you’re a vet, why can’t you read a simple freaking X-ray? Why did I pay for an X-Ray? They tried to tell me this all would cost $3,000+ in addition to the initial $2,000 ER visit and X-ray!!!! I mean they even have their own finance person who comes in all prepped with prices and estimates. I immediately went back to pick up my cat and bring him home. They didn’t say squat to us when I got there- nothing, no concern for my cat. Also, who we can only assume was the owner was stomping around PO’d probably cause they lost out on 5grand. Everyone working here should be ashamed. I don’t even want a response because an establishment like this is despicable. Please bring your pets somewhere else like Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital.

Dr. Nandini Mudeliar saved our 4 month old kitten’s life. We still aren’t sure what exactly he was sick with, but he had a fever of 106 and was lethargic as well as not eating for 3 days. We brought him in to the er and he was taken back relatively quickly, staff communicated with us the whole way. And in less than 24 hours, after some antibiotics and fluids….our kitten is eating/drinking, and playing around the house again. Isabela, vet tech, is also really kind and you can tell that many of these employees really care about your animals. Dr. Nandini herself was upfront with us about our options within our budget and informed us to the best of her ability so that we could make the best decision. The prices are high, but it’s what comes with emergency care so we weren’t too bothered by it, especially since it resulted in saving our kitten’s life. 10/10 recommend for your pet emergency needs.

I’ve been to a few vets on island and the doctors and staff at VCA are the best. They are compassionate and I felt very confident that my dog was getting the best care possible. I never felt rushed, things were explained to me in detail and the staff knew how to handle my dog. The last vet I went to put a muzzle on my dog just because of his size. They didn’t do that here because they know how to handle animals. I highly recommend this place.

We strongly recommend continuing care here.

Our beloved senior cat Princeton is incredibly shy. We greatly appreciate the understanding staff, who are careful and sensitive to his special needs. We believe they strike a balance between what is urgent and what can wait. They suggest timelines, explain urgency and provide a variety of alternatives to achieve needed test results, and when his most recent emergency left us wondering how we could continue to provide follow up care they suggested the Senior Cat Care Club Program, which has since more than paid for itself in just the first few months, but allows us to make manageable monthly payments.

We'd like to send a special shout out to Dr. Lauren Kishimoto for providing such superior care to Princeton and to his worried humans. After appointment conversations are comprehensive and thorough, and detailed paperwork sent home always helps me to feel as if I understand what happened, how he did and why. We also very much appreciate the staff calling the day after to check in after his most recent dental and follow up urinalysis appt. We are sure to implement their suggestions on how to help Princeton feel more calm during his trips to and from the vet.

Pictures of his gleaming teeth flash through my mind each time I hear him happily crunch through his food. I feel assured that his improved dental health will help him to lead a longer, happier, pain free life.

First Review (Last quarter of 2022)

10 Stars! Our hopes and expectations were exceeded in every way.

Our beloved cat, Princeton, arrived half sedated with a catheter in his arm from another vet that was unable to resolve his life threatening urinary blockage. We feared the worst, and then the incredible staff of Pearl City VCA swung into action.

The emergency intake process was thorough and yet completed quickly. The staff were welcoming, calming and professional. In the four days that Princeton was at this large and well equipped facility the communication with his doctors was scheduled and regular. Thank you to each doctor who made it possible for Princeton to be with us today. Each doctor took their time answering our many questions which ultimately helped us to hope for the very best. Many thanks also to the awesome technicians who took such excellent care of our beloved cat and who helped facilitate our daily visits in a private room and especially to the financial advisors who made discussing and understanding treatment costs and options simple and low stress during this very difficult time.

While prices may be higher for this large and well appointed facility that is available 24 hours, we ended up paying thousands of dollars less than we expected and even received a sizable refund from our deposit. Thank you to the patient program that made this possible.

Most importantly, Princeton is at home again where he is eating and recovering well. We look forward to being cared for by this clinic hospital for many more years. We highly recommend.

The picture shows Princeton recovering from his kidney stone removal surgery. Day 1 of being home again.

I brought my cat in because he had been vomiting and nobody else could squeeze him in that day. We waited for 3 hours (mind you, I had my 1.5 year old daughter with me too as my husband is deployed & have nobody to watch her-extra fun!) for the vet to come out and tell me basically nothing, that they weren’t able to take vitals because of his temperament (hissing and scratching, YEAH he’s a sick cat, I thought that would be pretty standard). Then said they wanted to do bloodwork. Waited another half hour before someone came out and gave me an estimate for $3200 and wanted a deposit of $2400 before doing anything but advised I should not leave with my cat because he was very sick. How they would know this, I’m not sure considering they didn’t even TAKE HIS TEMPERATURE! I left with my cat after paying $200 for I guess people to just stare at him, and took him to another vet the following day. They squeezed him in and treated him for nearly 1/4 of the price for everything. INSANITY. I’ve been a pet owner my entire life and my father is a veterinarian, he told me I should leave as well. Don’t go here unless your pet is about to die and there are no other options.
2 stars instead of 1 because the front desk and techs were nice.
