Let me start my review by saying that my 2 dogs are my children so I take things pretty seriously with their health and wellness just as much as any dog mama. We have 2 boys who are both 2.5 years old (pitbull/pitbull terrier breed). We’ve raised them since 8 weeks to be kind and they are extremely loved. They love people, other dogs, and children.

My husband and I were planning our honey moon and we made the decision to board them. We could have easily asked someone we knew to house sit or find someone etc but we wanted to take them to a facility because we knew that the staff would be knowledgeable and trained professionals with degrees/certifications who could perform CPR god forbid if necessary. My cousin in a vet tech and I have a different appreciation for vet staff from the technicians to the doctors and everything else in between.

So, we chose this facility merely because our one dog gets car sickness (we live in Croydon and needed something close by) and also it was recommended for boarding by a very good friend. The vet we usually take the boys to does not do boarding unfortunately.

Before I start this lengthy experience please take note my husband and I are very laid back people. We understand life happens and mistakes happen. We are the type of people who trust the doctors judgements, we don’t deny any vaccinations for the dogs except the Lyme for now since we are not much of hikers and at this time don’t feel it’s really necessary with our lifestyle.

First visit: Met with one of the doctors for their initial visit. Prior to boarding each dog needs a visit along with updating vaccines and judging their temperament to see if the dogs are a good fit for boarding. My one dog Bane had an ear infection starting (they are very prone to ear infections and it’s a constant battle cleaning their ears, giving medication, and trying to prevent it from happening. I honestly become apathetic about this topic because I feel like we do everything we can to prevent them but no matter what they get them. The doctor proceeds to recommend testing the bacteria in the ear and sending us home with a cleansing solution and medication for the ear canals. I wasn’t understanding the need to test the bacteria so I asked the doctor-depending on what bacteria is developing/present does that change the treatment? She hesitantly told me no. Either way it would still be the cleansing solution and ear medication. So, why would we pay an additional fee for the bacteria to be tested and sent to a lab just to have the same treatment? Not sure if the doctors made commission based off sales at this practice but it felt like a money grab to me. Wasn’t a good first impression. I understand giving the patient their options of possible treatment; absolutely. However, when I denied the bacterial testing there was a shift in the doctor’s demeanor. Appointment was over and we were dismissed with a very nice goodie bag for each dog along with their heart worm medication they get every month. So, that was extremely nice. Not once was it mentioned for us to see what the kennels looked like behind the scenes. I had to ASK if I could see it back there. It was the end of the day and the perfect time to give a quick run through because everything was cleaned up. I know they were closing shortly but how long does a quick walk through really take? At this visit both boys got updated vaccinations-some even slightly early just to not worry about it later on when our vacation came up. And we were instructed to schedule another visit with the technician only for the 2nd series of their vaccine. (Which has to be administered 3-4 weeks after the initial dose). We left and called back to reschedule when we had our schedules infront of us.

Dr. Chris Schumacher was so caring and thorough in explaining our options. We had many questions. My Floof passed away today and it was thanks to him that we could prepare ourselves and say goodbye peacefully at home. The rest of the staff was incredibly kind as well during such a painful time. We would love to bring our younger cat here for future visits.
Thank you again.

I don't usually go to a Vet unless I have to, Like if my dogs are Sick or Something. I usually get their Shots at a Clinic at a Pet Store or Something Like that. Not that I have an issue with having a Steady & familiar Vet. It's Just the cost's are S0000 expensive and Im a retired Guy So funds are tight.. But, I assure you ,My Dogs are healthy and cared for at all times. Anyways,I recently had to Say goodbuy to my Little Yorkie " Gizmo" who was (as far as I could tell) about 16 - 18 yrs old ! He basically Just got old. Very old. I rescued him from an abusive home 16 plus yrs ago. They told me he was 3 yrs old at that time and I had him for 16 years. So you do the math. He was old! He Lost his eye sight Several months ago and his hearing went as well. He was getting around Pretty Well for most of this year. He Just needed a little help every now and then. Well, The Past 2 weeks he declined rapidly and his Quality of life Just wasn't good anymore. it was breaking my heart. So I searched out a local vet to have him euthanized. I ended up at the VCA Neshaminy Location and needless to Say, it was a hard day. I had no Idea of the Cost's involved because it's been a while Since I've had to make this kind of decision. The staff was 100 percent careing and understanding of my whole situation. They were respectful and caring of all my wishes and even found a way for me to afford the Bill. I have nothing but positive things to say especially on such a Sad day . I played it off tough and gruff When dealing with the whole situation but when I got in my truck to go home it all hit me. my Little buddy was gone. not a fun ride home at all ! but, if they read these reviews...I want to thank you all at Neshaming for making such a hard day a little easier for me to Get through. I Think Im going to Look into Some basic Wellness insurance for my other dog Rocky. He's a 3 yr old American Pit Bull terrier that I rescued about a year ago. Id like to be able to get him Set up with normal Vet Visits at VCA Neshaminy . Heres a pic of Gizmo Just 2 days before I Said goodbye to him and another with This buddy " Rocky " . Thanks again to everyone at VCA Neshaminy ! I hope I'II see you Soon with "Rocky"

Scheduling the next visit: My husband called the first time to schedule because his availability is greater than mine he gets out of work before me. He told me the receptionist kept telling him it wasn’t a vet tech visit he needed a doctor present and gave him limited windows of availability. (We both need to be there to take them at the same time because they arnt small dogs). Naturally, it was confusing. Why was the doctor saying it was a tech visit she even said “I don’t need to be there for the next visit” and then when were scheduling next we’re being told she needs to be there? So, I called to clarify this. And was rescheduled to what I thought was a visit with the technician only and this visit would be for each dog to get their second series of their vaccine. (Again, timing for this vaccine is crucial because if it’s not administered 3-4 weeks after the initial dose; it’s inactive and therefore our time line with boarding them there would get messed up).

2nd appointment: Waiting room was chaotic, way too many patients scheduled around the same time and it didn’t seem to be any rationalizing with the schedule to stagger cats/dogs etc. It was mayhem. Luckily we both go to the visits so one of us could go outside while we waited for their next appointment. We checked in, treatment was not discussed on what their visit was even going to be that day, they were taken to the back, and sent back to us. It was pretty quick. I didn’t think anything of it; figured a quick shot doesn’t take long anyway. Checked out; kind of thought it might’ve been a low amount for vaccines but then again it’s a second series maybe it’s cheaper. Went home thinking we were all ready for boarding. We were wrong.
The next day I take a look at our boys and notice their nails were cut. I then took a look at my bill to submit to our insurance company and I noticed each dog actually got their nails clipped for over $40 each dog plus taxes. We were extremely upset. First of all; we would never spend that much on nail clipping, we never scheduled for nail clipping, and now we are in a situation where we need to have yet another visit and another office visit fee tacked on to get their 2nd dose in a timely manner.
I called and left a voicemail on a Saturday with my experience and if I could get a call back to rectify everything. I did not receive a call back. Instead, I was sent a bill for what boarding would be for us. (These were the only forms sent to me). I printed these forms out, signed and dated them and kept them for my records to turn in when needed. (They were only financial responsibility forms not consent forms at all).

With this frustration and lack of confidence in the scheduling staff; we took our boys to their usual vet to get their 2nd dose.
I finally get a call from the facility let’s say Wednesday/Thursday and they’re confused about why we didn’t schedule their 2nd dose visit. I expressed our experience, my voicemail, no call back but a bill sent, having to go elsewhere for the vaccine to not be denied boarding etc. Had to send the documentation over 2x and allegedly the systems were down and they didn’t get them. Apologies were provided-accidents happen-no big deal let’s move on.

Day of boarding: We go the night prior to our travels because we have an early flight the next morning. Waiting room had 1 woman (her dog was in the back), and a family of 3 (mom, dad, young son) with a cat carrier. Waiting room was not crazy at all. Grant it, phones were going off maybe 3 calls but it wasn’t anything that was too crazy. The receptionist tries to hand me paperwork to fill out. I pull out my paperwork and said I have this already (the financial form only). They were happy I came prepared. We handed the boys over; I gifted some snack bars and treats for the staff along with blankets, bones, treats etc for the boys and a note about them/their personalities. They told me I was good to go. I even stopped and asked “are you sure that’s it?”. They reassured me, yes we’re good you’re all good you pay when you pick up.

Highly recommend. I would give this place 20 stars if I could . I’ve never met a vet where they love and care such about fur babies like this place does. Staff are so friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable and helpful . They actually care about the pet and not making money. Pudgie loves everyone here and wishes them happy holidays ❤️
