Huey is all smiles! Thank you, Dr. Herbeck and staff for taking such good care with us this morning. Huey is a rescue and a bit insecure with strangers. It was his first wellness visit since being adopted and the Dr and staff were kind and caring from the moment we walked through the door, to the time we were on our way out. Dr. Herbeck is calm, gentle and confident. He gave Huey the time he needed to settle for his exam. Office staff and techs were super sweet with my big baby. Huey actually enjoyed himself 🙂
Highly recommend! Thank you all!

Wow I have to share that I had a pleasant experience going to this place I brought my dogs in for evaluation because they're due for shots and I was greeted by a wonderful staff from the receptionist to the doctor. our babies met doctor Dewynter was a joy and she explained everything to me and I want to bring our dogs back here. Thank you for your professionalism all of you Nayri,Kiana and Zsolt. I certainly will refer anybody that I know with pets to you. You are close to my home. Recently took my dogs to another great time place a little further away you're much closer to me. Thank you for your wonderful service. My dog seem quite happy normally they would be full of anxiety which is normal. ?. ?

We used to bring our 4 cats to a place in Agoura Hills, but it was getting expensive and really wanted to find someplace closer for emergencies and every day convenience. We really like the staff and doctors at VCA Parkwood, plus it’s more cost effective for us and we feel that we get the same level of service or better. They are caring and thorough and I think our cats are in great hands as they also help us stay ahead of problems preventatively. Highly recommended!

I agree with the reviews regarding the quality of care here - I’ve brought my dog Lola here many times already and today was the first day they asked me to put a muzzle on her (never once before at her other appointments). Even though I assured them she doesn’t bite. This occurred after she barked at the tech.

The techs don’t seem to know what they are doing. They don’t seem to be trained on dog behavior and what things mean. I’ve observed them get visibly annoyed, impatient, and take it personally when a dog barks at them or doesn’t appear to “like” them. They don’t appear equipped to know how to handle nervous dogs - because when a dog barks, most often, it’s THAT. Dogs pick up on our body language and emotions, so of course my dog is going to be more nervous if the handling professional isn’t confident or secure.

To add - it took countless visits with no answers regarding my dog’s recurring ear infections. Once I took her to McGrath Vet they figured out after 2 visits that it’s her food. So once I switched her food she no longer had any infections of any kind. An allergy. I could’ve saved so much money had that been a possible underlying condition at VCA. But they felt she was “too young” for that, which was incorrect.

Honestly, months ago I thought maybe Lola just was super nervous going to the vet like many dogs are. But I noticed it actually came down to quality of care because once I took her to McGrath, she was fine. No barking. In fact, her new vet there described her as “sweet.” That was the feedback I received without asking and that was what confirmed everything for me.

I observed their care and noticed when she seemed nervous they just distracted her and appeared confident. You could tell they’ve had solid training regarding dog behavior and how to assist dogs who are anxious and nervous.

I wish had realized this all prior to committing to the VCA care club plan. I chose not to renew and take her to McGrath instead, although it’s a bit of drive, just because they have such excellent quality of care.

Lastly, when Lola got spayed - the tech made a joke saying “no more Lola’s, but that may be a good thing.” She was one of the techs who I saw was visibly annoyed by Lola and was also there today. Super unprofessional and ignorant. You just don’t say that to someone - it’s a common social cue.

Our regular vet was out of town when I needed to put my 15-year old buddy, Mosquito, to rest as she awoke that morning in such pain. I had never visited this location previously but they were very accommodating on short notice. Always a terrible experience but Dr. Paulina Flores was wonderful and compassionate, as was all the staff. Thank you for being so kind.

I took my cat here today for a check up and everything went so smooth & perfect!
The staff and doc. are super friendly & competent and the space was very clean and quiet. My cat who is usually very anxious was surprisingly calm throughout the whole appointment! 🙂
