I had an awesome experience at this place. I took my Ivy girl in for an emergency. I had call ahead to make sure they would be ready for her when we arrived. She ended up having a severe anaphylactic shock to unknown reasons. Dr. Sierra and her staff were very compassionate. She and her student training reassured me and calmed me down that Ivy was in good hands. She had to stay overnight and we were able to pick her up the next morning. I’ve dealt with other vet places that were not nice and try to take advantage of me. I never once felt like that at this place. They are very transparent with you with prices and explain to you. Ivy is my kiddo to me so I would do any thing for her. Thank you guys for saving her! Forever grateful to these amazing people!! Here’s a few update pics of her!

A few weeks ago, we had to put our cat down. From the first call I made to Valley Oak, I felt welcomed and understood. When we got there with our cat, he threw up all over the waiting area and the techs cleaned up everything. The service to get him diagnosed was quick, yet thorough. We made the difficult decision and the vet and tech were very sympathetic and understanding. Although letting go of our fur baby was incredibly difficult, the vet made the process as easy as she could for us. Today we received a sympathy card in the mail, which had a personalized note written. It was unexpected, but so very appreciated. Thank you for helping us through a very difficult time.

I was given a kitten, unexpectedly, a sole survivor found in an orchard.

My daughters fell in love and I said, okay. We’ll work together to raise this baby.

The third day of having this kitten, early morning we discovered it barely clinging to life, gasping for air and in a very grave state.

I called VCA, had the kitten triaged over the phone and given clear instructions to get there as soon and safely as possible.

The young lady at the front paged the back as soon as we arrived and staff sprung into action.

Brenna was our tech and she explained what was happening with the kitten, which at first sounded like he might not make it, I was really sad, my girls had loved and adored this baby for the past few days and I felt like a failure, because I could not afford the high costs of attempting to save his life so easily as a single, working mother.

After meeting and speaking with Dr. Megan Masonic, I feel she had empathy with our situation, she was extremely compassionate and it shined through!

I asked for some time, to see if the kit would improve, this doctor extraordinarily gave her time and every effort to provide Nerdball (kitten) a fighting chance and after 12 hours, we were able to bring him home.

Everyone was so kind to me and my
Children!! Brenna even showed my
Older daughters how to make a hot coco

I have to say, I see a lot of reviewers complaining about the cost, but it is an emergency hospital, with specialty services; I am forever thankful to Dr Masonic! She is beautiful inside and out !!!

This was my first visit to VCA Valley Oak. I used to work at VCA Asher Animal Hospital in Redding, so I know how it is to be on the other side of the counter. My cat Dante needed a Echocardiogram done. When I walk in, everyone was busy but I was acknowledged. Check in was a breeze. My vet tech, Miss Jess, was AMAZING!!! Very nice, friendly, warm and handle Dante with love and care. Dr Barry was the vet that did the echo. Found out that, she as well, had worked at VCA Asher. Dr Barry was also very nice and friendly. Even that she knew I had experience, she still explained everything to me. I didn't felt rushed. I felt heard and understood. Miss Jess knew I came from Anderson and on my way out she told me to have a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe drive home.
I also had the pleasure to speak with Miss Kaitlin and Miss Lisa.
Thank you to everyone for taking care of Dante and making this an amazing visit.

My parents brought in our cat Lucy on Thanksgiving. She was lethargic, throwing up, not really eating or drinking. We were getting very worried about her especially since it was a holiday our regular vet wasn’t open. They got Lucy right in and ended up telling us she had a high temperature, her body wasn’t making white blood cells, and she had gingivitis. The staff was very kind. They offered to keep her overnight but my mom declined so she got sent home with meds and now about a week later she is back to her normal self. I’m so grateful they were open. Thank you!!

I don’t usually write reviews but I had to after what we experienced. Saturday night around 7pm my dog was bitten by a rattlesnake. We were walking to close our gate at night and I wasn’t paying close attention to the noise but my dog Butch was bitten. I being stressed out didn’t know what to do. But my landlord told me to call Valley Oak since they were open for emergencies. I called immediately and the receptionist was so understanding of what was going on and kept me calm. She told us to head over soon since we were about 30 mins away. We got there and they got us into a room fast explained what they were going to do and told us how much it was going to cost. First off I did think it was going to cost us a lot since we have never had to deal with this before but it was very reasonable. They kept Butch from 8:30-12:15 and then we were able to take him home. We stayed in the parking lot until he was ready and they were very nice about us using the bathroom and even offered us water. After us sitting in the parking lot for a couple of hours they became very busy and I could tell it was probably going to be a long night for the staff. But once we got in there to pay and get Butch they were super compassionate about us being so worried about him they reassured us he would be okay and that this will be a long recovery. I want to thank the staff that was working that night, the receptionist who was super nice and even made some funny jokes to take our minds off things. The techs that were really understanding when I was obviously upset about my dog and even asked about his funny collar. Yes it says “Bo Junes” that’s what my boyfriend calls him. And the doctor that was on staff that night but I can’t remember his name, for doing everything he could to make sure Butch was in good hands.

Update: We are on day two of recovery and Butch is almost back to himself. Lots of rest and leashed walks but he’ll survive. We can not thank you guys enough for helping our boy through this terrible time.

I had to take my cat in last night. She was hit by a car and I found her dead in the street. I didn’t really know what to do so I called them. They told me to go ahead and bring her in for cremation. Once I got there I asked if they could scan her microchip just to make sure it was her. Just in case. They did. While scanning she had some muscle spasms. I asked if they could just make sure she was really dead just in case. I didn’t want her to suffer anymore if she was somehow still alive. They took her back and confirmed she was dead. No heartbeat. I had intended to sit in my car with her a little bit after the scan, but wasn’t able to do that before taking her back. I wasn't quite ready to let go yet and I asked if I could sit with her for a little bit and were really compassionate. They set me up in a room, checked on me, comforted me, and allowed me to take my time saying goodbye.

I didn’t get anyone’s name since it was all kind of a blur. But it was the staff who was there around 7 pm on Sunday the 17th. Every single one of the them were so kind, calm, comforting, and compassionate. I really appreciate what yall do. So thank you.

Horrible experience with whoever I just got off the phone with. Called in because I was unsure* if my fur baby was in an urgent situation or not. Already shaken up for my pet the lady I spoke to was adamant that unless I came in and paid the $350 to find out what’s wrong with her she won’t speak to me or tell me if it sounds urgent or not. I’d rather not waste the clinics time and my money on my animal if she’s not an urgent situation, but I would at least love some empathy and compassion when asking if my pet is in an urgent situation instead of being brushed off.
