I can only speak from two experiences and I am not sure if it's all Vets or just this one but our family has lost two cats under their "care". The biggest complaint is they are very much money driven. When they treat your animal there is no discussion about price till you get hit with the bill. That took us by surprise. We left our second cat overnight and when they called me the next morning nothing changed and my intuition told me to go get her. Basically they did nothing except diagnose her but the treatment was not working and they wanted her to stay for more. I called them to tell them we are picking her up they did not even have the decency to let us know how she was doing or any aftercare instructions they just handed her to me. How can you be so callous Something they did made her much worse then when we dropped her off and she died on our way home in my son's arms. I will never trust them with another member of our family that's 2 cats in 5 years. They do not care more about the animals than the money.

We’ve had nothing but good experiences with this vet hospital! We travel back and forth between Hawai’i and mainland with our dog. The staff has bent over backwards to help us get our dog ready to travel. We’re so grateful to have such loving and helpful vets and staff to help us with our dog and cats. Mahalo nui loa. We’re glad to have you on our little Big Island, where it can be hard to find good vet care.

My family has been taking our dogs here for over 25 years. We totally trust them and have never had a negative experience with them. They are always knowledgeable, responsible and friendly.

Took our 2 dogs here for the first time on 2/17/2023. From the start we knew we liked this clinic. From the front staff to the vet support staff to Dr. Ishizu all were exceptional! Each member that we interacted with listened to what we said, responded with information and/or understanding and caring. We would recommend this clinic to anyone new to the area or, as was our situation, looking for a new vet for their furry loved ones.

THEY KILLED TWO OF MY CATS!!! IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMALS DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THEM THERE! They seriously do not care about your animal. They do have vet techs there that are genuinely concerned. But the culture of the office is strictly money driven. I wish I could give them 0 stars. We thought it was just a coincidence that our other cat died there a year ago but now after two, it's very suspect. Regardless, she died in the car after spending 1 night there. My family is inconsolable. She literally died within 2 hours in the car with my children after their "care". I wish there was a way I could report them or hold them responsible. But if I can save other animals by having this opportunity to post this review it will have to be enough emotional retribution for me and my family.

They are definitely money driven. I have had two negative experiences there. The first one was when I made an appointment over the phone to get a rescue kitten desexed and specifically refused the microchip because the kitten was getting rehomed. When I picked him up, they had microchipped him even though I told them it was just a neuter. I agreed to pay half of the $100 they charged me because they said I checked the box on the intake sheet, though they didn't show proof of this. The second experience was when I went in to buy flea medication. They said they don't sell it over the counter and I'd have to make an appt and bring the cats in to get the medicine. The flea medicine is for two strays, so there was no way I'm bringing them in. That is just a ploy to get more money out of customers. I have never seen any vet gatekeep flea medicine. It seems they just want you to pay for an appointment on top of the medicine. Totally unnecessary. I ended buying it online. I won't go back to them.

My chihuahua was attacked by two dogs Friday night. Veterinary Associates were the only veterinary office on Saturday that would fit us in their booked schedule to see our dog. Dr. Richards immediately saw our dog upon arrival and provided her the care that was needed. He spoke to us a couple times and it was evident how knowledgeable he is, in addition to very caring. All staff was very kind and helpful too. I highly recommend.

Have used Veterinary Associates twice now and they've been great both times. Both emergencies. They showed us empathy, urgent care no questions asked and followed up with us after to check on our baby. Will not go anywhere else in Waimea. Been to 3 vets in Waimea and Veterinary Associates are my vet for life as their care and willingness to help even after hours is above the rest! Thank you all for caring so much about the animals. ?
