Excelente hospital para pets, buenos veterinarios, personal amable, preparados para cirugías, lo único de malo es el tiempo de espera para la atención, casi más de 1/2 hora, incluso teniendo cita

We used VSS on 1-19-25 for emergency care for my Buddy. While the outcome was heart wrenching, the care was not.
After arrival we were quickly moved to a room and evaluation was started and tests run. When tests came back less than ideal, we were presented with an option for care or a humane exit for our beloved boy. We appreciated the honesty in the overall cost for a treatment that under the circumstances probably would not have worked, but cause undue stress for Buddy. Due to age, we opted to let him go. Dr. Black and the entire staff were so helpful at this most difficult time. They showed love and compassion for our sweet boy. They were so caring and gentle in his final hours and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. Despite hating the process and loosing our baby, VSS made it easier. We were pleased with Buddy’s care.

After the neighborhood stray cat was mauled by a neighbor’s dog, we took him to look at his eye, which was no longer in its socket. Even though we made it clear that we were taking financial responsibility of him, the care he received (or should I say lack of) was both infuriating and nauseating. Since it was a Sunday evening, we made plans to transfer him to our vet on Monday. We asked VSS to please stabilize him and make him comfortable. When my daughter and I finally got notice for his transfer, we headed up and waited roughly 45 minutes for them to simply hand him off in his crate with zero instructions or information. I even had to call from the vet to have them fax Gus’s records, and the receptionist said it would be awhile because there was nothing in his chart. He smelled horribly and his clearly unviable eye was left hanging on his face. When our vet took him out of his crate, he had on a used, filthy cone attached with rags. His entire bottom and tail had also been shaved, with no reason given. Dr. Ivan, our wonderful vet, took one look/smell and handed him to a tech to be cleaned up and ready his eye for removal. I later found out that upon his initial evaluation at the vet, Gus also had a broken jaw, a crushed sinus cavity, and maggots in his eye socket and mouth. When Dr. Ivan called VSS to question his handling there, she was told, “He’s just a stray.” We had made it clear to their doctor that we planned to keep him as ours. I was furious-that an animal should receive substandard care because it’s a stray, especially when we paid the $600+ bill. After nearly a week he was finally stabilized enough to close his eye wound and wire his jaw. Gus is now a member of our family and is thriving (minus an eye)! I would definitely NOT recommend!!

I am writing this as the last 48 hours of our life have been terribly emotional. On Tuesday we noticed our dog went from being high energy and excited to see us, to laying in the snow refusing to move. I carried her to the car and showed up at VSS. My wife and I were torn apart as this was our joy in life. They quickly got us in a room and identified the cause, which was terminal and unfortunately it was fast spreading and aggressive. We knew at this point we likely only had a couple days max. The vets and techs at VSS were incredible. During her 48 hour stay they helped us navigate hard decisions, and supported our wishes. They answered every question we had as we were grasping for hope. We never had anything pushed on us, and they took excellent care of our girl. Our hearts are broken but I can honestly say they were the best and comforted us every step of the way. We went up nightly to spend as much time with her as we could. They always gave us a private room to lay on the floor and cry with our arms around her. Any time of day or night they were always ready to bring her out. After all said and done, we felt our bill was very reasonable given everything they had done for her. They were generous in every way. Thank you VSS for helping us get through one of the hardest 48 hour periods we have experienced.

I’ve been here a few times over the years for my rat terriers. The staff has always been pleasant and explained things well. My last visit was to put down my 17 year old rat terrier. My local vet couldn’t get me in and it turned into an emergency situation. I walked into this place in tears and they immediately took me to a nice room and cleaned up my dog. As hard as the process was the staff was wonderful. Frankie’s passing went peacefully. It wasn’t cheap but totally worth it given the circumstances. Thank you.

I can't say enough of how over-the-top Veterinary Specialty Services in Ballwin, MO helped me and my dogs in our time of need. Dr Black and the entire staff went out of their way to make a horrible situation more bearable. My sweet Tyson was too sick to survive his illness. Dr Black let me go home to bring back Tyson's sister, Rosie, so she could be present to say goodbye. This will help Rosie adjust to Tyson's absence. We never felt rushed and they were all so understanding and empathetic to the situation. Thank you to Dr Black and everyone we met today.

I have been reading all the reviews good and bad. ER vets have to triage like human ER Drs. Critical taken first . In this case Stella was very critical and the staff there took great care of myself and took Stella back asap as we were traveling from AZ to WIS. Stella was peeing blood and it took us over 2 hrs to find an ER vet and my girl was declining fast. All I can say is the place was very compassionate and caring to our needs since we were traveling.

The end result was the opposite of what I was thinking and I had to say goodbye to my hiking pal on a road trips. I am still in shock k though she was sicker than I thought overall.

RIP my big girl Stella! ❤️‍?❤️‍?

This was my first time taking my dog to the emergency vet, and it was a great experience! The doctor was very knowledgeable and didn’t rush into extensive testing. She performed a thorough physical exam and was able to diagnose the issue. The total cost was under $200. I highly recommend this hospital!
