The staff at woodland animal clinic literally saved my nieces dog. We had no idea what was wrong and after some tests the vet told us she was in kidney failure. My niece was devastated her dog is her life. They prescribed medication and also an iv drip. As soon as the iv hit she was like her old self again!! So now we give her an iv every other day. It has completely changed her life. We are so grateful for the staff and how nice and patient they are with the owners and their animals!

I take all 3 of my kitties here and can’t recommend it enough. The staff is always so kind and friendly and I feel like they genuinely care about every patient. My experience here versus with other vets in the Deland area has been so much better in every way.
Appointments are usually booked a few weeks in advance, but one time when I had an emergency with one of my cats they were able to see us the very same day.
Overall just a great clinic with a great staff!

Horrible experience with them!
Brought my dog in for a teeth cleaning had her blood work and stool sample done to make sure she would be ok ! They called me the day before the procedure and asked if I wanted a chest x ray done I said no there was no reason to all her tests came back good! Right her In the day of procedure and requested her nails to be trimmed while she was under since she doesn’t like them done ! I go to pick her up they had done chest X-rays and had it on my bill after I said o don’t want them , they did remove those charges paid over $900 for procedure ! Vet came out and said she had no problems didn’t need any extractions and all was fine!
I Asked about the itemized bill to make sure they weren’t charging me for other things with the vet tech she said she was given meds because her heart rate dropped ! The vet didn’t tell me that!!!! I had no idea she had complications during procedure and they kept her under longer to do the X-rays that I didn’t want ! I bring her home and they didn’t even do her nails !!! Probably trying to keep her alive and forgot ! When I called and asked about why they didn’t do her nails they basically said I was lying and that they did! I have pictures they were not touched ! I don’t recommend them at all they are more interested in padding the bill than taking care of the pets !!!

I had used Woodland in the past for routine vaccines and prevention for two of my dogs, and when a cat I adopted needed corrective eye lid surgery this is also where he was treated.

I had never had a negative experience with them. That was until today, when I found a cat I was WILLING to accept financial responsibility for who needed to be humanely euthanized.

I pulled into my driveway and was greeted by a very friendly stray cat who on first look either had a broken jaw, or some type of abscess. When he came closer to me it was apparent whatever had been going on had been that way for a while as his left eye was bulging out of socket, and he reeked of infection. Puss was literally drooling out of this cats mouth, and he was unable to open or close his mouth and his tongue was a pale pink color. It was at this point I felt he either had a serious abscess from something dental or an oral tumor.

Either way, he was skin and bones and when I picked him up he would fall limp. Not limp in the “I’m relaxed being held kind of way but in a listless I don’t have the nervy to do much way. On all other accounts I’ll say he was pretty bright, alert, and responsive. He could walk, and he could take in the environment. My main reason for bringing him to be seen by a vet was on the off chance this was something salvageable, I would’ve taken him to a rescue and donated to his medical bills. I just know a full work up and treatment wouldn’t be something I could afford and take on.

On my initial call, I did go with my gut on him needing to be euthanized. And when I spoke with the receptionist who was very sweet, I did say I wanted them to humanely euthanize him.

I arrived at the clinic and had no problem waiting, while I knew he wasn’t well, it wasn’t dire in that moment. I had a technician politely bring him back as they were limited on space due to construction. This is where things took a turn. Upon her return she informed me that she “knew” her vet wouldn’t euthanize a cat in this condition. I looked at her confused and asked “okay? Why?” She explained to me that because he could walk around and he had his eyes open, he was not a candidate to be euthanized. And that there may be some underlying causes but right now he just looked like he had a really bad upper respiratory infection. Which she informed me could be treated with meds.

Again with a confused look, because if you look at the attached pictures you can CLEARLY see he has more going on, I said “but he can’t open or close his mouth…”

Her response was “that can be due to his upper respiratory infection”

Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen cats pant, and open mouth breathe due to a URI. I’ve seen cats refuse food because of a URI and the inability to smell making them not hungry. I really want to stress THAT WAS NOT WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

I asked her “You don’t think it has anything to do with the giant mass on the side of his head…”

I received a blank look that pretty much told me she had no clue what I was talking about. If you would’ve just opened the cage you would’ve seen the hard mass on his side that needed to be looked at by a vet. WHICH I WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR. That let me know right then and there - that
1. This tech took it upon herself to diagnose a cat with no actual diagnostics run (which maybe the rules have changed but when I worked in a vet clinic that wasn’t allowed)
2. No matter how much I advocated for this cat to be seen and to be helped no one there was going to help us.
3. In her grand diagnostic run, she didn’t even take the time to open the cats cage and see he clearly had an access or tumor of some kind, and was leaking puss and infection from his mouth.

I was given the suggestion to take him to a shelter, or the emergency clinic in deland, again because, and I quote “she KNEW her vet, her her vet wouldn’t euthanize a cat in this condition.”

So I spent another 3 hours looking for a clinic or shelter to help this cat.
Finally we ended up at a clinic in winter springs where the vet saw us.
