Was really excited to take my just-adopted pup to his first vet appointment, and was excited to see they had a free first visit for new clients. I went in with confirmation from the staff it would be a free visit (of course I understood if my pup needed anything special outside of a wellness exam it would cost money). When asked about my new dog and how he was doing, I mentioned that he has a sensitive stomach just for them to be aware of. I was then told that “because he has these other issues, it no longer makes the appointment a wellness exam and therefore not a free visit”. Essentially, they scammed me and anyone else who experienced this. Because I voiced out loud that there was anything I wanted them to be aware of (bear in mind they did not do anything to treat this in any way, it was a regular wellness exam) they used that against a new patient. My pup was also terrified of the vet, hid under my chair the entire time, and they didn’t seem to care or want to ensure he felt comfortable. It was a very fast check on him with no attempt at getting to know him as a new patient, their way of a rug pull to make money under the guise of a free visit for new patients. Really sad to experience as a first time pet owner who really just wants to make sure my pup has the best care possible.

Sadly, but predictably, private equity is ruining another business category. This time it’s the pet healthcare industry. We have three 16 year old cats and we now dread having to bring them to the vet as it’s usually a $300+ expenditure as soon as you hit the door. In the past 5 years alone the price of caring for our pets has doubled for the same service and same amount of visits. We used to like this place and on an individual level the people are nice. But every time we go it’s a different doctor and more expensive tests. It’s really sad because after our cats pass we probably won’t adopt any new pets as it’s just too expensive now. Unrestrained and unregulated greed has come to ruin another industry.

The Logan Square facility had been my primary facility for 7 years, but we had an incident with a cat that they largely ignored and passed off as behavioral a little over a year ago. A few months later we had to rush our cat to an emergency center where she passed away. Since they closed the Logan Square facility, I took a chance last Monday and took my other cat to the Bucktown location since they had his records and I was concerned with his health. Some blood work and $300+ later I was out the door with a promise of a follow up in a few days. 9 days later without a response, I followed had to follow up myself to let them know they had failed to contact me. It cost me an additional $200 for a second opinion, but I was more disappointed I let them do this again to me.

If you have an animal you love, I do not recommend Your Pets Wellness as a primary veterinarian.

Truly despicable practice that will use any technicality to upcharge and evade helping your dog. I am fighting a brain disease and was late bringing my dog in for a recheck who is fighting several health problems himself. I explained my situation and reminded them that this was for the same issue and was told I'm either paying $50 extra for the same visit or my dog would continue to suffer and decline. I know this isn't a charity by any means but allowing me to come in under the premise of a recheck and then bait and switching when a loved one's life is on the line is truly disgusting considering the heart you're expect from an animal clinic. I will go out of my way to ensure this costs them more than $50

We originally started coming here because of Dr Dory who we loved. We always saw the same technicians and receptionists so you could tell there was very little turnover. Everyone took the time to get to know our baby girl, it felt family run which we liked. The place has gone down hill since it was bought by Thrive. The last two times we felt as though they cared more about making money than our dogs needs. I was also treated poorly and practically given a guilt trip by the receptionist. I do not recommend this vet.

Every experience is fantastic. Out of all of the animal health care clinics that we've been customers of, Your Pets Wellness has been the best one.

It used to be great, but lately, my appointments all felt rushed and weren't thorough, its a new vet very time, and the prices have sky rocketed. I brought up concerns to the manager and she was very rude the two times we spoke. Dr. Tina left, and she was the only thing keeping us there so we wont be back.

I'm updating the rating. This use to be the best location for our Senior cats. In the last year Dr. Dory has sold the practice. They weren't transparent about this information and the care changed drastically. The new doctors we saw was terrified to even come close to my cat, even though he's the most chill cat on the planet. She was gripping the counter and you could tell didn't want to touch my cat. She supposedly performed an exam in the back when she did blood work but why wouldn't you do that in front of me while discussing my cats care. Weird. On top of that they didn't seem knowledgeable or even bothered to read past file notes. Really just looking to make as much money as possible and not really interested in forming a connection with client and caring for animals. They might be better with dogs so I can't speak to that. I would not bring your cat here however.
