I don’t typically write reviews, but wanted to share my experience here so others know what to expect when visiting this clinic given that our animals are so important to us in our lives ♥️

This weekend my two dogs ate a pack of raisins. My partner and I took them in to be seen here because it was an emergency. Unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed our experience.

The vet hospital is severely understaffed and does not conduct itself in an emergent way. In total, we spent over 6 hours at the hospital overnight. All my dogs needed was their stomach pumped and charcoal- a very quick procedure. This was concerning because it was a poison control emergency and timing is important.

The vet tech told us the vet would be right with us, but we did not get to talk to anyone until 2 hours later. The communication and expectations were very unclear.

At the end of the appointment they spilled charcoal all over my dog- her back, stomach, and face were covered in it 🙁 She is a very complacent and friendly dog so I have no idea what happened, but it seems like the room was unsupervised. The picture I have attached is her AFTER the vet, not before ?

While I am grateful that there is at least one vet clinic that sees dogs 24/7 in Santa Cruz and for the providers who are up all night, I do not have confidence that they would act in an emergent manner if I went back. It would make a big difference to enhance their communication and hire new vets in the future.

In the future I’ll be driving over the hill or to Monterey.

Our little man was suffering from congestive heart failure. Of course there want much we could do. We took him to the ER twice. The first time Dr. Mark was amazing in helping get him stable so we could take him home. The second time was the last time.... I had called ahead and the staff was waiting for us. Dr. Sarah(I think) was very gentle and compassionate when explaining to us that it was time to say goodbye. She explained the whole process, gave us an option for a private room, and a box of tissues. As we held him during the procedure she had tears In her eyes as well. It was very peaceful and afterwards there was no rush for us to finalize the visit and leave.
The compassion I have seen from every staff member the two times I have been there is amazing. They are dedicated and caring.
Thank you so much for making such a painful thing so easy.

The staff at Pacific and Santa Cruz Vet was super supportive and helpful when. I brought in a cat from Kitten Kornher Rescue who had just delivered 6 babies. The new mom is young and did not know to chew through the umbilical cords so the vet and techs help to assess everyone and got me on my way back to the rescue quickly!

The staff was friendly and calm when I called them at 6:30am from the Pacific Santa Cruz Hospital front door and let me in within a few minutes. The Vet technician was thoughtful with my injured cat, the Doctor was friendly, communicated clearly and I'm so grateful they were open early last Sunday!

Strudel was on a walk and injured her leg. All the staff were so nice and Dr. Crowder was amazing. They gave Strudel great care and helped me decide her best options. Strudel was sent home with strict instructions: meds and hours of loafing. 10/10
